The Beebe Farm is a fourth generation family farm located near Mobile, Alabama and the Gulf of Mexico in the rolling hills of north Baldwin County, Alabama. The farm consists of over 1100 acres of pasture, pine forests, and wetlands, connected with many miles of trail. We are striving to preserve this landscape and use the land for agriculture, education and recreation.  Along the way, we hope to share our farm life and outdoor experiences with friends and visitors. The natural beauty of the southern pine forests, swamps, rivers and coast is impressive. Please come visit someday and experience this wonderful setting.

Using the our farm and local outdoor resources, we offer farm tours and educational programs, hay and other farm products, canoe and kayak rentals in the Gulf and the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta and cabin rentals in the Smokies.  We are also involved in a unique farm conservation effort.

A Brief History of the Farm

William Craig Beebe (1890 - 1959) was an attorney and state legislator from Bay Minette, Alabama. Mr. Beebe moved to Bay Minette in 1915 soon after graduating from the University of Alabama Law School. Although early French, Spanish and British colonists had settled the area around Mobile, Alabama, those pioneers stayed mainly along the coast and navigable rivers. Thus Bay Minette was a young city in the early part of the 20th century, when Billy Beebe first started his law practice. As did many established southerners of that period, Mr. Beebe acquired land as he became more prosperous. The Beebe Farm is still owned by the same family today.  The present owners are the grandchildren of Mr. Beebe.

As family members moved away over the years, the farm was neglected. When the present owners first returned home in the 1970’s, the original old farmhouse was about to collapse. That house has since been completely restored.

Subsequently, the present owners have worked hard to return the farm to full production. As animal lovers, they surrounded themselves with horses, cattle, and other animal friends. It was probably inevitable that we would eventually want to share our farm life and outdoor experiences with others.

We can accommodate any age group for an educational and recreational farm tour (A Little Touch of Country). The Beebe Farm can also host picnics and parties for groups of all sizes. We have overnight accommodations  in our cabin (adjoining the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Wear’s Valley, Tennessee). Canoe and kayak rentals are available, with numerous paddling access points within a very short drive, offering flat water swamp tours, river trips and Gulf of Mexico coastal kayaking.

Our ultimate goal has always been to develop a plan to preserve the land.

To preserve the land intact we are seeking conservation community members who will assist in preserving and managing the land as partners, owners and residents.  Using conservation easements, we will then protect the farm in perpetuity.
